BLUEBERRIES

Blueberries all year long

Hurst's Berry Farm has blueberries available through out the year. We begin and end the year with our South American partners in Argentina and Chile. Our Mexican fields provide blueberries in the spring when South America is finishing and the domestic harvest begins. California blueberries are harvested in the San Joaquin Valley in May and June. The northwest harvest begins in late June and continues through the fall. The bulk of our production is from our home territory of the Willamette Valley in Oregon. We are pleased to offer blueberries to our customers all year long.

Our blackberries are grown in several locations in Oregon's Willamette Valley. This valley is located a the foot of the Oregon Coast Range and comprises some of the most fertile and lush farmland in the Northwest. Massive flood waters helped shaped this area more than 10,000 years ago, when the glacial waters of Lake Missoula washed over areas of Oregon and Washington in a series of periodic floods. The result was a transplantation of rich volcanic soil from eastern Washington to western Oregon. The moist, cool winds from the Pacific Ocean nurture Oregon's abundant agriculture region. Our blackberries are harvested from July through September. They are packed in the field and quickly moved into refrigerated trailers for transport to our coolers at our home location in Sheridan.

MEXICO

Hurst's Berry Farm has been growing fruit in Mexico since 1998 in order to provide a continuous supply of fresh berries to our customers year round. Mexico's warmer climate allows us to harvest berries from October through May. We now farm over 450 acres in the states of Michoacan, Jalisco and Colima. In these regions we grow red raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.

Company president, Mark Hurst, spends about half of the year at the farms in Mexico overseeing the operations. Mark enjoys the Mexican culture and working with the local people. We plan to keep expanding our Mexico berry-growing operation to better serve our customers.
